{"id":142,"date":"2015-04-18T18:19:42","date_gmt":"2015-04-18T18:19:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mmdsom.org\/?p=142"},"modified":"2015-04-20T09:35:50","modified_gmt":"2015-04-20T09:35:50","slug":"amnesty-warns-kenya-plans-to-close-dadaab-refugee-camp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mmdsom.org\/?p=142","title":{"rendered":"Amnesty warns Kenya plans to close Dadaab refugee camp."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Amnesty and UN are against Kenya plans to close down the Dadaab refugee camps sighting the breach of international law.<\/p>\n<p>The Amnesty wants Kenya to stop its plans to close camps, warning the consequence of forcing 350,000 Somalis in Dadaab back to Somalia \u00a0would put their lives at risk.<\/p>\n<p>After the resent \u00a0Garissa University College attack , Kenya has ordered the closure of the largest refugee camp in the World.<\/p>\n<p>The Kenya government has said the Dadaab camp is a breeding ground for Al shabaab.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Kenya\u2019s deputy president, William Ruto, said Kenya would now change the way America changed after 9\/11.<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cWe have asked the UNHCR to relocate the refugees in three months\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ruto said that if the UN failed, \u201cwe shall relocate them ourselves\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The UNHCR has described the plan as abrupt and warned that it would have \u201cextreme humanitarian and practical consequences\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Amnesty and UN are against Kenya plans to close down the Dadaab refugee camps sighting the breach of international law.
