{"id":899,"date":"2015-10-13T19:45:51","date_gmt":"2015-10-13T16:45:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mmdsom.org\/?p=899"},"modified":"2015-10-13T19:45:51","modified_gmt":"2015-10-13T16:45:51","slug":"in-kismayo-three-children-die-of-diarrhea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mmdsom.org\/?p=899","title":{"rendered":"in Kismayo Three children die of diarrhea."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mmdsom.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/kis-44.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-900\" src=\"http:\/\/mmdsom.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/kis-44.jpg\" alt=\"kis 44\" width=\"256\" height=\"192\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At least three\u00a0children died due to diarrhea outbreak in Kismayo the headquarters of lower Jubba region.<\/p>\n<p>The health workers say the\u00a0outbreak of\u00a0the\u00a0disease in the town and its surrounding areas has hospitalized twenty people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis week the disease has killed three children, under the age of five, as more than 20 people were hospitalized\u201d said the director of Kismayo hospital Hussein Sheikh Qassim.<\/p>\n<p>The doctor said the patients were mostly children and had trekked from far off villages. Most were in poor condition on arrival.<\/p>\n<p>Halima Osman a mother of eight, said her child experienced symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting but she had thought it was malaria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy neighbours informed me that my child was suffering from malaria, so I bought anti-malaria tablets from a pharmacy in the area and gave it to her, but it didn\u2019t help. I later gave her traditional herbal medicine and her health situation worsened.\u00a0When I brought her here they told me she was suffering from diarrhoea,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Hussein urged the local community to keep good hygiene to avoid infection.<\/p>\n<p>He also urged people to report to the nearest health centers immediately with symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At least three\u00a0children died due to diarrhea outbreak in Kismayo the headquarters of lower Jubba region.
