Kenya orders closure of refugee camps as it gives ultimatum to United Nation.
Kenya deputy presidents Wlliam Ruto has ordered the closure of Dadaab refugee camp and gives United Nation 3 months ultimatum to relocate refugee camps to Somalia.
The deputy president said his government had held talks with UNHCR and asked them to relocate refugee camps which currently host more than 500,000 Somali refugees, adding Kenyan government will relocate if UNHCR fail.
The deputy president statement comes days after north eastern leaders called for the closure of refugee camps in Dadaab and relocating them to Somalia.
Early this week leaders from North Eastern region demand the closure of the refugee camps and accused the refugees of hosting terrorist in the camps.
Kenyan government has several times repeated its calls that the refugees camp pose threat to its security and are not willing to continue to host Somalia refugees.
The call to close Dadaab refugee camps has been intensifying since Al Shabaab militant stormed Garissa University and killed more than 148 students and injuring 70 others.
Meanwhile, Kenya government is set to commence building of 700 kilometer wall along Somalia border to prevent infiltration of terrorist group.
