Maternal Mercy Development (MMD) conducted important Training for the comminity
MMD trainers continued to conduct training activities for the first week of march 2015 in wadajir district in Banadir region.
The training activities that are being under taken by MMD:
- Capacity Building on HIV/AIDS ‘ FGM
- The role of the women in the society and peace building.
- Supporting of the poor mothers to deliver safety and children get good nutrition.
The MMD has conducted a capacity building training on FGM and Journalism for 30 students in ALHIDAYA SCHOOL of Journalism Institute on February 14-19, 20125.
During the training the participants learnt some topics about the FGM and how the journalism can participate the prevention or to stop that bad custom.
FGM is one of the violences that is made most of Somali girls because the mothers belief that this makes to control the girl as not to need a man, but they are cutting some of the most valuable organ in the female.
The trainers also learn how the journalism can participate how to stop and give an orientation about FGM.
The media can reduce the uses of this custom
The five days of training has been successfully completed and MMD have already trained wadajir District Administrators, All the participants were very impressive and acknowledging the activities undertaken and were more willing the reactivation of the training as means of reducing the level of FGM, HIV/AIDS and will proceed the campaign against that bad customs and beliefs.
In the conclusion the trainers suggested to continue the trainings like this and give a chance to the journalists to make awareness because they are involved with the society and they have an access to preach a thousand of listeners in a minute.
