MMD conducted awareness Rising Peace Building and Conflict Resolution in Baydhaba.
MMD has conducted one day workshop 29thMarch 2015, in Baydhaba, as part of its ongoing mobilization aimed awareness on conflict resolution, peace building and community coexistence particularly female persons.
Workshop Objective
- Advocate for peace promotions and respect of the human rights in Somalia
- To encourage building Peace environmental matter in civilian areas.
- To prevent any conflict that can happen among the district neighboring families and encourage themselves to rescue each other in these emergency cases.
- To participate solving conflicts among clans.
- To achieve peace mobilization campaign inside the community.
- To improvethe capacity of women in participating conflict resolution.
- To persuade suggesting every initiatives enhancing the integration of the society, those can create confidential integrity, lovely, cooperation, commitment, equity and justice.
- To welcome every issue preventing conflict and building peace.
On-going Activities
On Sunday 29th march 2015 was held Conflict Resolution Workshop at ISHA GUEST house in Baydhaba , where participants from Baydhaba in Bakool region participants of the meeting shared their suggestions and remarks of the awareness and showed their respects in Peace and integrity.

The awareness / meeting was very interested, as the participants are more interested in such this meeting and talking about peace, that was one of our expectations regarding from the workshop, it was opened reading holly Quran verses by Abshiro Isse Ali one of the participants, Then MMD – Baydhaba chairlady Ms. ANAB ALI ISAKH presented greeting and welcoming to the participants. She emphasized and encouraged them to benefit this meeting and participate the discussions, and told them that their opinions and ideas are more acceptable.
The participants discussed the role of women in peace building and conflict resolution and the outcome of the participants regarding the role of women in peace as follows:
- We participate and advocate peace in our society;
- Elder men and local authorities do too.
- Women in Peace Role begins every one’s house by advising those armed young boys not to terrible the weak people include women and children first, then around the neighbor and the village/district.
- We start in the district a team those advocate peace, we started out homes and going to the officials.
- Intellectual Women must consult with the community leaders, militias’ commanders and show them the peace way to solve their daily lives.
- Participants suggested establishing Women Peace Umbrella, that functions most Bay regions.
- We support our soldiers when they are in the frontline we give, water, milk, food etc.
- After Alshabab handed over we supported FG soldiers and did whatever we can. We build rooms in the district which we support the IDPs returnees.
- We also participate the sanitation of the district as it is one of peace.
- Peace building awareness are not more than before and it’s good to increase these programs.
Challenges
- Telephone threatened saying that why you are supporting South west Government?
- The situation in Baydhaba is unstable, for the target killings which is going on.
- Poor of awareness peace building ad conflict resolution workshops.
- Lack of jobs or income generation.
- Lack of free education
- There are human rights violations we request to get accountability and transparency.
- Less of Enough serious duration workshops, meetings, awareness those could be study more necessary topics, discussions and remarks.
Conclusion and way forward
- To get free education
- To increase awareness, workshops and advocacy on peace building and conflict resolution.
- To increase the security
- Community participation
- To get support from outside
- Good government
The focal point of MMD in Baydhaba ANAB ALI ISAKH concluded the meeting and thanked for the participants and also encourages continuing the work that they are doing their district about peace building and conflict resolution.
One of the participants suggested and explained her idea by appreciating the participants and how good was their participation, the facilitator and how he presented the accurate methodologies to seek peace in Women Role and finally MMD and how it conducted this meeting.
