Over 900 refugees escaping the ongoing war in Yemen have safely arrived in Somalia.
A ship chartered by Somali legislatures safely docked on the shores of Berbera on Thursday and the refugees were immediately evacuated to a makeshift camp.
Among the refugees were two Yemenis who sought asylum in the country.
The evacuation exercise was facilitated by the members of the Federal Parliament who contributed at least $300,000 for the process.
The number of the refugees evacuated from Yemen by the Somali authorities is likely to increase in the coming weeks following the airborne evacuation of 96 Somalis who were stranded in the middle-eastern country.
Although there is no data detailing the number of Somalis in Yemen, there has been increasing concern about loved ones trapped in the country.
Local aid agencies say there is surplus of 10,000 refugees who arrived from Yemen since the war broke out in March this year.
