HIGH LEVEL VALIDATION CONVERSANCE TO FINALIZE AND ENDORSE THE FINAL DRAFT OF THE CHILD RIGHT
A conference to end the children’s rights bill, organized by the Somali Ministry of Women & Human Rights, was held in Mogadishu.
This conference was attended by some Ministries and civil society organizations, with MMD being one of the invited members and attended by Asad Abukar Ali, director of Human Rights & Children.
The main objective of the conference was to get the Ministries and Civil Society to participate in the finalization of the children’s rights bill which they had expressed.
The conference was attended by child and human rights lawyers who participated in an open dialogue with one of the organizers of the bill.
The bill will be forwarded to the Somali parliament for approval by the upper house and finally expected to hit the Somali President, Mohamed Abdulahi Farmajo.
The Children’s Act is crucial for Somali children was first introduced to Somalia in 2015 by President Hassan Sheikh and has been awaiting official approval.
